We perform leak testing with air or water in accordance with technical guidelines and applicable DIN standards. Depending on requirements, the appropriate test method is used, including testing with air or water as the test medium.

The data is recorded in the computer system and written down in test reports. Kanal-Krug is a member of the RAL Quality Assurance Association for Property Drainage. Kanal-Krug GmbH & Co. KG has been awarded the G quality mark, RAL 961, by the Quality Assurance Association for Sewer Construction for cleaning, TV inspection, and leak testing for building and property drainage pipes up to a nominal diameter of DN 250.

This test is usually required by cities and municipalities for new buildings and serves to verify that the property drainage system has been constructed properly and complies with the relevant standards, such as DIN 1986-30, DIN EN 1610, EN 752, or EN 12056. The leak test is carried out under specified test conditions, including a defined minimum test duration of several minutes.

The old stock of many pipes is often the reason why wastewater can seep into the groundwater. Damage to pipes can lead to health risks in the use and production of drinking water. Water pipes are particularly affected by this and should be checked regularly.

Experience in recent years has shown that a large proportion of these old pipes are leaking. The untreated wastewater that escapes can contaminate the groundwater. Suitable testing methods can be used to check leak rates and locate damage in a targeted manner.

Repair or renovation?
Distinction between partial and complete renovation 

In trenchless renovation methods, a general distinction is made between partial renovation using short or long liners or mechanical sealing elements and the complete renovation of pipes over their entire length using pipe liners. In this case, the pipe is completely renovated with an inner pipe.

Both methods for repairing wastewater pipes have proven to be an economical and technically mature alternative solution to the traditional method of repairing damage using open construction. They are an economical method of significantly extending the service life of pipes.

Sewer cleaning in Pohlheim

Sewer damage detected by our TV systems can also be repaired without civil engineering work if the damage pattern and the analysis allow this. We use a pipe lining method for this purpose.

This process involves a woven synthetic fiber hose, which is usually impregnated with 2-component resins and cured in the old sewer as a "pipe-in-pipe system".

Hose fittings soaked in resin or cut-to-size fiberglass mats are pressed into the leaking or cracked areas using air pressure or inverted using temperature-controlled inflow water.

Thanks to this modern repair method, old sewers can often be put back into operation after just a few hours. The materials used here are exclusively tested and DIBT-approved construction materials and are installed in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
